Problem-free

Birds and bamboo conjure up a beautiful contrast of liveliness and dynamism on one hand and resilience and quiet rectitude on the other. The last two images are drawn in preparation for coloring in tomorrow, the basis for the GongPi style of Chinese brush painting. You're welcome to download them to try your hand at it.

Happy Duckies

There is a popular Chinese saying that the ducks would know the first hint of the warmth of Spring. Just observe the happy duckies frolicking in the warm water of Spring.

Whole-Hearted Devotion

Peony in its many splendor, by way of the GongPi (elaborate) style of Chinese brush painting. Since several weeks back, I have taken on a student of sort; actually two to be exact, a lady friend and her daughter. But the daughter has gone back to school after the summer break. That leaves two of us, exploring the fascinating world of painting, truly a journey of boundless discovery.

Small but complete

Sparrows are small but on the plump side with short but powerful beaks. There is a popular Chinese saying that though sparrows are small, they have all the five major organs that matter. That is, don't be deceived by the lack of size even though size does matter in certain aspects.

Sparrows are common, and like to hop around, like on springs.
